QB Chase Garbers has been promoted by the Las Vegas Raiders from their practise squad to the main roster.

One day before their Week 17 clash against the San Francisco 49ers, the team made this move official on Saturday.

After Week 17 starter Jarrett Stidham, Garbers will now be the Raiders' main back-up.

When the team revealed this week that veteran starter Derek Carr would sit out the rest of the season, it shocked the NFL community.

Since Carr left the team, there won't be a backup alternative for him.

Garbers joined the Raiders in May as an undrafted free agent.

He has spent the entire season with the Las Vegas practise squad up to this date.

In his four seasons as a starter for California (2018–21), Garbers accumulated 6,582 throwing yards and 50 touchdowns.

In terms of overall yards, he concluded his collegiate career fourth in the history of the programme (7,756).

Tomorrow at 4:05 PM ET, the Raiders will kick off against the 49ers.
